About sewatt.com

sewatt.com is a discussion forum dedicated to single-ended tube (valve) guitar & bass amplifiers.

What is "single-ended" anyway?

In a single-ended vacuum tube amplifier the audio signal is amplified by a power tube, in contrast to push-pull amplifiers where two output tubes work together in phase opposition. In practice, the term single-ended amp applies to tube amplifiers with output stages designed to work in the same phase relationship. The most common single-ended amps are those with single power tubes such as the Fender Champ and the Epiphone Valve Junior.

History

sewatt.com was founded in May 2007 by members of the 18watt.com amp building forum as a result of the popularity of low cost single-ended guitar amps such as the Epiphone Valve Junior.

Because of the large interest in the Valve Junior, there was some concern over 18watt.com's focus being lost. Instead of outright banning the talk of single-ended amps, the Admins at 18watt.com provided the seed capital to set up a new discussion board for single-ended amps and sewatt.com is the result.

The new admins of sewatt.com realized that it might eventually suffer the exact same problem and decided to design the new forums to be as inclusive as possible while providing separate areas for the different genres of guitar amplifiers.

As a result, a group of discussion forums were created around the the "watt" theme under the general name "Wattkins Amp Forums". The following sites are all part of sewatt.com:

Hopefully, the spirit of 18watt.com continues here.
